The Medical Education and Research Department which is the central department for continuous medical education in Dubai Health Authority is always enthusiastic to implement our leader’s vision of ensuring Dubai becomes a the major hub for healthcare education.
The DHA’s collaboration with the Royal College of Radiologists (RCR) along with Pan Arab Association of Radiological Societies (PAARS) and the Radiology Society of the Emirates (RSE) for the upcoming “RCR Global Congress 2024” that is taking place for the first time in Dubai, under the theme “Radiology Driving Innovation” will definitely be a valuable contribution and support for us to strive more towards achieving our vision “Towards a healthier and Happier Community.”
Continuous education and skill enhancing based on up-to-date innovative technology will increase our healthcare professional’s competence in delivering a world class service to our community. I was standing on London’s underground train, 3 years ago, when I felt proud seeing a poster of the science museum in London. The sign contained icons symbolizing different museum sections, and a chest x-ray symbolized medicine. It is accurate as internal medicine has taken a significant step in managing disease since the invention of penicillin, the actual science of medicine has entered the stage of modern practice since the creation of the x-ray in 1895.
Indeed, no field of medicine has innovated during the years as radiology has. The introduction of different modalities in the area has improved the understanding of diseases. Even nowadays, artificial intelligence is trending, and it will not impact any field like radiology. It will be challenging to find a reference book in medicine not containing a radiology picture, except for dermatology.
In our conference, we selected the theme of “Radiology Driving Innovation” to remind everyone of the role of innovation in our field and even the role of radiology in innovation in medicine. Radiology should always be a step ahead to provide the best for patients.
